Susan Tuchman
Susan is a recognized national legal expert on civil rights with authorship of widely circulated articles and testimony. Under Susan’s leadership, the ZOA’s work has led to groundbreaking legal achievements that benefit and protect Jewish students across the U.S.
After a ZOA-led battle, the Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights issued a policy protecting Jewish students from antisemitic harassment and discrimination under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act. Also triggered by the ZOA’s legal work, the Department of Education decided to use the IHRA definition of antisemitism when it considers and decides Title VI cases.
Susan works with students across the U.S. to protect their right to a learning environment that is physically and emotionally safe.
